Why is Marriage Proposal Culture so cringe?
>Agreeing to marry in a conversation, then having a showy proposal anyway
>Getting down on one knee
>Presenting a ring WHILE asking, as if a John soliciting a prostitute***
>Spending loads of money on the ring
>Proposing in public
>Proposing with a billboard or some other wacky stunt
>Seeing it as a good thing if your GF lets out a scream of shock when you ask
Can someone explain to me how normies managed to turn asking a normal mature adult question into this degrading, coercive, performative horror show? What's the logic behind it? Are normies completely emotionally illiterate? And is this fagotry a factor in declining marriage rates?

*** = I'm not opposed to engagement rings in principle but they should be given AFTER asking to avoid the sex work-like dynamic in asking with the ring in hand.

It's so contrived, this and the whole big wedding bullshit that people are psyopped into.
I just asked my now wife "will you marry me?", alone in our rental and she said "yes, of course!", simple as.
I didn't even have a ring and eventually we had a custom one made for $300 that she loves.
We spent $500 on our wedding all said and done, it was great and we couldn't have been happier with it.
Normalize THIS

Why do you think most people are opposed to doing it this way? I understand the pressure to have a big wedding because your family might want it, but these ridiculous over the top proposals aren't even traditional, they got started in the 1950s or thereabouts and some elements (i.e. Instagram ring pics) are less than 10 years old.

idk, I think a lot of people are extremely fake and only thrive from social media attention. It becomes a game of one-upmanship, and as people get desensitized to a slightly quirky way of doing something (proposing for instance) they have to reach new extremes to make the other retards clap and cheer.
I think that without social media this kind of thing would almost never happen

Marrying is for people with money. You only think is cringe because is above your tax bracket

The worst is those stupid pictures they pay thousands of dollars for a photographer to take. The most generic poses, 0 creativity, lots of photoshop. And you know for a fact it's women's idea, the whole thing is just fucking stupid. I hope I find myself a humble girl who doesn't like any of that retarded stuff, it's legit fucking cringe.

Monogamy is not natural. It was created to quell incel rage. Diamond giving is a jewish creation to sell more diamonds. Combined these ideas are the ultimate in self disrespect only a left winger would part take in.

I'm talking about proposal culture not marriage, retard.

It's not always the woman demanding the extravagance. Some insecure guys see this stuff as a way to show off their money, see the guy I replied to above.

This is better than the typical Western ostentatious proposal culture.
