It's a hard lesson to learn that most people don't deserve your kindness.
Pearls before the swine as the bible says, I still do my best to be nice to everyone and sometimes you really meet a very kind people but man, it's getting rarer and rarer, if I didn't adopt the belief system of a higher transcendal power, I would be completely mentally numb and stop being nice to people alltogether, cause reality really makes you nihilistic and the tendency of your brain remembering the worst moments far more than the good ones plays into it.

>I still do my best to be nice to everyone
for the past few weeks, i've just been talking to strangers and helping them out in that specific situation
like, i have a better relationship with folks i'll never meet again than with folks i meet everyday
>met this old guy at the train station, find out we're stopping at the same station, he tells me about his kids and grandkids
>met this old lady, she asks me wheres the elevator in the mall, i tell her where but decide if its better that i just walk and lead her there
>random kid about 15 walks up to me and asks me what i'm listening to, i give him my earbuds and he tells me it sounds cool, then he just leaves

As >>81719837 does continue to be nice despite the hardship, but learn when to take people out of your life and do not get attached first ever. Once someone has earned your kindness keep embracing them.
