Actually, it's because of the Industrial Revolution and class exploitation (mainly through slavery). The "family" exists in all cultures, and yet most societies (including European ones) were primitive. Let me stop you right there. Your topic sentence is marvelous nonsense and you didn't back it up with facts at all.

For 350 years Christianity was a slave religion passed from Israel to parts of the Roman empire and Persia. Even after Rome adopted it, it didn't spread very fast. When Rome fell, the Holy Roman Empire went to shit and the Barbarians took it over starting 500-600 years of the dark ages. So take 1000 years right off just for that.

As for technology, morals, and laws. Most of the things we have now were post-enlightenment (1685) ideas. Scientific study, the industrial revolution, the arts. All spawned out of that movement in spite of Christian tradition and Catholic power. Most of what European Christianity did was preserve its own power and forcibly convert the populace to maintain that power. Ultimately the Kings made the rules of the land and often they just put you to death for minor infractions regardless of any belief system.
