my family keeps doing this thing where out of the blue one of them says something like "anon you know we love you no matter what right? like if you're gay you can tell us, we won't treat you any different!" and everybody agrees, trying to coax me into coming out. it's like once a month now. I keep explaining to them that I'm not gay and I just don't want to get a girlfriend and their only response is "ok, ok...but just know that hypothetically, if you were gay, we would support you 100%".

The stepdad then subconsciously felt the need to "put him in his place" in front of the girls and called him gay. If this weren't the case, the stepdad would have discussed this with him before. I had something really similar happen to me but that was when I was like a teenager. My whole family thought I was gay because I had a bunch of female friends and no male friends and wasn't interested in sports and never had a gf and wasn't particularly interested in getting one and got caught watching gay porn a couple times.

Despite never having had a gf, my family has never dared to hint or ask if I'm gay.
I think the biggest reason why is that I live with them so they know for a fact just how isolated and disinterested in other people I am. They dont pester me about not having a gf either, although they used to a little bit when I was a teenager. But for the last decade I think they've just fully accepted that I'm some kind of asexual autist shutin monk. I am in fact fully straight and would like a gf but dont really see that happening any time soon given my lifestyle and personality so I've mostly just resigned the topic too.
What about you, OP, is there anythign about you or your lifestyle that can give them a fair reason to suspect you of being gay? Other than not having a gf of course
