From how people treat us. People will say it doesn't and it comes form within, but that's horseshit. A stable sense of self-worth is developed by having a stable childhood with positive attention.

Being neglected in childhood causes you to suppress your own needs and feelings of self worth
Everyone is born with (and still has inside them, perhaps heavily surpressed) a feeling that they have value and are deserving of love
