1. Swami et al. (2012) - UK-based Study
Title: "Perceptions of tattooed women: The effects of observer sex, tattoo location and tattoo size"
Findings:
Women with visible tattoos (e.g., on the arm) were rated as less physically attractive by men.
However, men rated tattooed women as more sexually promiscuous and more likely to consent to sex early.
2. Gueguen (2013) - France Beach Experiment
Design: Female confederates with and without temporary tattoos lay on a beach; male strangers were observed approaching them.
Findings:
Tattooed women were approached more quickly and more often.
However, follow-up questions revealed that men assumed tattooed women were more open to casual sex, not necessarily more attractive.
3. Swami & Furnham (2007)
Findings: Men rated tattooed women as:
Less physically attractive
More sexually promiscuous
More rebellious
4. 2019 Study (University of Miami)
This study found that men rated heavily tattooed women as less attractive and less suitable for long-term relationships
