uBlock Origin is now automatically disabled on Google and can't even be turned on again in the extensions settings.

Is it over? Do I really have to switch to Firefox/Brave to block YouTube ads now?

ublock lite still exists and works for 80% of the cases
>Do I really have to switch to Firefox/Brave to block YouTube ads now?
no see above but they crippled the experience for everyone even if you use an adblocker since they only start the video stream after roughly the same amount of time the ad would've taken, you'll 10-20s in front of a black screen

You know gorhill's been slowly porting MV2 shit over to work with MV3, right? Check the commits.

I'd rather sit in front of a silent black screen than an advertisement

zoomers would rather switch web browsers and then switch operating systems and then reverse-engineer youtube's coding and create a new type of quatum supercomputer powered by nuclear fusion inside of an artificial gravity field instead of watching 30 seconds of ads in 30 minute video

There used to be 8 minutes of ads for every 22 minute of content on ye olde television before the modern internet.

Absolute brainrot.

why would you use gecko or webkit as your browser engine?

If it gets to the point that ZOGle has made it literally impossible to watch youtube videos without ads, I'll just stop using the site entirely. Maybe then I'll actually read a book.

firefox and the team behind it are inherently bad and the only reason they are allowed to pull off that bullshit is because google gives them money for strategic reasons. we're at a point where even firefox wants to sell your data and serve you ads

I don't know what that is implying because I have never had a problem doing anything with firefox. What are (You) doing on chrome that you can't do on firefox?

there's quite a few reason to stop watching 99.9999999999% of what's on youtube - ads have never been one of them

What's wrong with ads that zoomers bend over backwards trying to avoid them at all costs?

Was your uBO on Chrome disabled? You can try regaining the access using Chrome flags. Should work on 138, maybe also on 139 with another flag.

Chrome 138 requires an additional flag to use all these. First set:

chrome://flags/#temporary-unexpire-flags-m137 [Enabled]

Then restart Chrome and you can set:

chrome://flags/#extension-manifest-v2-deprecation-warning [Disabled]
chrome://flags/#extension-manifest-v2-deprecation-disabled [Disabled]
chrome://flags/#extension-manifest-v2-deprecation-unsupported [Disabled]
chrome://flags/#allow-legacy-mv2-extensions [Enabled]

And restart Chrome again.

Ads are annoying and overstimulating. Even 15 seconds of some asshole breathlessly shouting at me about MUST-HAVE GREATEST HOTTEST PRODUCT is too much to bear.

Floorp, waterfox, librewolf, maybe iridium or brave seem alright, although I don't really keep up with tech too often
