Duolingo has been around a lot longer than you think
I downloaded duolingo, used it for a bit, and uninstalled it long before AI slop was even a phrase. I don't think I am disqualified from having a soul.

the only apps i really need are a web browser and a media player. stop making everything an app.

that said i used the web version of Duolingo for a while, it's neat. seems effective enough at teaching you languages in an interactive/intuitive way (fucking Rosetta Stone CDs, hated em).
