Male status has more to do with wealth, power, and achievement, and having these acknowledged by peers is what gives a man his place in the social hierarchy. It's very cut and dry. You're either wealthy or you're not, you either have power to make others submit to you, or you don't, and you either did a thing or you did not.

Female power games are much more ambiguous because they're not as concerned with hierarchy.
