I don't get lonely so I can't relate to people on this board really. I am superficially similar because I'm in my 30s, a virgin, never had a girlfriend or any kind of intimate relationship. The difference is that I chose this lifestyle since I was 13. I never once even attempted to get a girlfriend because I have no desire for one. I want to be alone and live alone. I don't fit in with normal society because of this, I had to go through over a decade of family pestering me about when I was going to get married before they gave up, now nobody bothers me and I'm relatively content.

The idea that people sit around pining for other people to be around is foreign to me. I can understand it on a cognitive level I just can't fathom it emotionally. I don't get how being around other people is preferable to being alone. The advantages to being alone are seemingly endless compared to the drawbacks of having to share your space with others.
