What are you thoughts on everyone having a mental illness these days ?

I think that if everyone has a mental illness, no one has a mental illness. So in a roundabout way, we cured mental illness. Hurray!

most people that break a law get labeled as mentally ill
they do this because for some reason its a good defense.

I have diagnosed "mental illnesses" and disabilities but I basically never talk about them because they're not important. Going to a book club or something and hearing the most normalfag women talk about being AuDHD or whatever is just infuriating, because I was diagnosed with autism as a kid and my peers tried to kill me a few times because they were so disgusted by what a freak I was. It feels... I dunno, reductive and diminishing to claim you have a mental disorder or disease because you struggle to make phone calls sometimes or whatever.

I physically couldn't make eye contact with people until I forced myself to learn how to, and I was locked in dark rooms and given lectures on how to be less of a freak by cruel old women as a part of my "therapy". That is not the same as enjoying Dark Romantasy more than other women, Rebecca.

If it's so common, maybe that's just the regular state of humanity rather than an illness.

i just dont know how labeling everyone with mental illnesses is good for society.
