As a small tip for the improv thing, the thing they say to never do is "yes" or "no", it's always "yes and" or "no because".

You have to keep it going. When you don't give anything to go off of, it limits their responses to digging deeper for a real response from you, whereas if you volunteered that response first, it lets them react to or bounce off it.
