Couldn't you meet people into competitive Pokemon at physical competitions? Go to the game stores when they're having events and chat. I also bet a lot of the people at said game stores are into the other hobbies that you're into.

I'm into guns and gardening so my peers are either 40-70 year old men or 40-70 year old women. I'm not entirely complaining since a lot of them have interesting stories. I met a nice lady a few days ago who talked to me about how she met Cary Grant once and evacuated from Indonesia in 1998.
