It's because women have been assigned by evolution a purely reproductive role. Men's bodies look different and are more practical for survival because they have to be since men must cover two bases as males, survival and reproduction, whereas women only need to cover the latter as females. This is why women's bodies are so cow-like and seem to be entirely catered to appealing to the male gaze with impractical survival features but great reproductive ones such as boobs (essentially udders that never minimize in size as they do in other female species outside of estrus/ovulation or breeding seasons), a year-round capacity for reproduction, wide birthing hips that impede mobility, among other qualities.
