I don't think about it a lot because it is all I have ever known but I was born with a clubfoot and it seems apparent that one simple genetic malfunction is likely the primary factor that led me down the doomed path I find myself on today. I have found ways to cope with my deformity but I constantly imagine what I might have naturally been had I been completely formed correctly. I try not to complain because of how much worse I know it could be but it has been a lifetime of frustration knowing that ninety plus percent of my body is fully able while that small percent is broken. It is like being chained to a weight at the ankle. Somewhat literally in my case. Just curious if any other anons find themselves in some such similar situations physically.

I wasn't born with it, but I have an ostomy now because of crohn's disease. So I have to keep bags taped to my abdomen all the time. I haven't tried dating again since getting that surgery besides just attempting to talk to girls on discord.
Not sure if I'd even want to tell someone I date in the future vs. just covering it up and calling it an injury since the reality of having a piece of your intestine sticking out of you is kind of fucked up to describe to another person.

I remember my mother describing this exact thing to me about another relative and it filled me with a great degree of fear and sympathy. How do you feel about it? I am genuinely sorry such a fate befell you. Something like this helps me put into perspective all of the fucked up things any of us may face in life. No one person knows the exact kind of struggle someone else is going through.

I don't mind it much. Mainly because what I had to deal with before that surgery was way worse. Like I basically spent the entirety of the 2010s living on toilets because of how damaged my intestines were with bile, blood, and crap coming out all the time. Fortunately I got into programming so that allowed me to keep an income the whole time in a field where having poor hygiene and not taking care of yourself is the norm. I also had these fistuals where the damage from my immune system attacking my intestines would start to create tunnels to other parts of my body so I ended up having a bunch of infections and was pretty much just running taking whatever drugs I could to avoid feeling or thinking and operated off of instinct until finally a big fistula punched this giant crater through my belly large enough to fit a beer can inside it, and a few hospital stays later I decided to just accept the ostomy and have the remaining bit of diseased large intestine cut out.
I actually fucked two women during this time, but I really shouldn't have. There wasn't much pleasure in it for me because of how sick I was and I was hunched over and running to the bathroom every two seconds when going out with them. But that diseased state kind of became normal for me so I didn't think about it too hard.

Not physical, but since having schizo I have a hard time going outside. Keep having intrusive thoughts that people can read my mind and are out to get me. Disabilitybucks help a lot since I'll be miserable in most if not all jobs.

What is the cause of this condition? I mean evolutionary speaking it is a death sentence to anybody who does not live in advanced society.

Did you try different diets, e.g., vegan?

It actually doesn't have a very high mortality rate. If you don't treat it and just let it ruin your body you'll probably just have a long miserable life and die as an old man.
Also no, I was never a vegan. It's an autoimmune disease that happens to take place in the intestines, so its cause is the immune system getting out of control instead of calming down after attacking an actual pathogen. There's some research on what those pathogens are that start the initial immune system reactions.

Mainly surgery is what you need to do to take care of it. Without surgery and besides medicine there isn't really any way to make it less bad. And even with medicine it doesn't really help much unless you treat it before it gets bad. All the good medicines that are available now (the biologics like risankizumab) were developed relatively recently, so they didn't exist back in the 2000s when I first got sick. Back then they just gave you high dose prednisone which causes its own problems.

Is it hereditary?

I just can't imagine a disease whose only cure is to cut your intestine and creating an artificial orifice for it. Hope you're managing okay overall.

I don't have relatives with that disease, but there is more of chance of getting it if you have relatives. It's not considered a genetic disorder though.
Most diseases don't have very good treatment options. I think we tend to get this idea of modern medicine as having solved everything but really most of the major problems people end up getting at some point in their lives are things you just have to live with and not stuff that gets definitively cured.

Have you looked into how different cultures have historically treated it?

Also more generally, is the intestine surgery reversible somehow? I mean if they found a cure tomorrow, could you reattach your intestines to work as before?

ive got hyper sensitive celiac which is also an autoimmune disease from hell. the most trace invisible amounts of wheat can fuck me up within minutes for upwards of a week
>no food from a resturaunt is capable of being safe unless its a very specific specialty place with seperate cooking areas
>I cannot trust food from other people, was unable to be over at friends houses for meals growing up and got alienated from what little friends I had in young adulthood because they wanted to go somewhere without me and disliked that I always just ordered a soda and sat there quietly
>my parents had to rebuy a ton of stuff like microwaves, toasters and such and they cannot touch real food
>my specialty food is low calorie, 3x the price and tastes like shit or doesnt feel right
>no girl wants to deal with this paranoid and rule heavy lifestyle. we cant kiss if she had eaten pizza within the past ~4 hours
>EVERYTHING contains it, I even have to check shampoo bottles and food that was previously declared safe because they just add it in there for fun at random and it has nearly killed me twice
>food convenience in my life does not exist, I cannot get fast food or pick something up on the way outside unless its sealed which usually ends up just being candy.
the usual response I get from all this is "wow haha id just kill myself" like yeah buddy im feeling the same way

People tried bloodletting, acupuncture, herbal remedies in different cultures around the world for that sort of disease. But I don't think any of those methods have much success.
You could theoretically loop around some spare small intestine to create a new internal replacement for the large intestine like the old one I had. That's called a j-pouch. But generally nobody would want to set up a second j-pouch on someone who needed to remove the first j-pouch. You usually only do j-pouches for ulcerative colitis to begin with, which was what they originally thought I had until the inflammation persisted and spread beyond the large intestine into the small intestine.

It's alright. I empty the bag so it isn't just sitting there with crap in it all the time. In a way it's somewhat less gross than holding crap inside your body. Like at any given moment my body has way less crap in it than the average person does. The bags they have nowadays are pretty good too. A few decades ago if I had to use an ostomy then they'd probably suck, but the ones today are solid with how airtight they are and how easy it is to slap them on.
