I have a rat infestation in my home, they're in the ceiling so idk how the fuck I'm going to trap them if they never come down. Not going to use rat poison either since they'll just die somewhere and I'll never be able to find and/or recover the rotting body.

Okay I can help you with this. Use one of two poisons: just one bite or tomcat. Those poisons are designed to make the rats thirsty so they will leave your house in search of water before dying. Any rats that die in the house will be eaten by other rats causing a chain reaction of death. Doing this in the summer is helpful because the final rat bodies will rapidly decompose and dry out. Traps will never work because the rats breed faster than the traps kill. You must use poison. The two poisons mentioned are anticoagulants which cause the rats to die from internal bleeding or superficial cuts.

I will only do this if I'm desperate enough, I don't want my ceilings/walls to be full of dead rats I'll never be able to recover, I have no idea how they're getting inside either. I can actually put poison through the little gaps in my ceiling, I just haven't for a longtime simply because of the dead body issue.

Well you did not properly read my suggestion and I am an expert on the topic. The vast majority of the rats will leave your home in search of water after consuming the poison. That is how the poisons are designed. One or two may die in the house but they will be consumed by other rats before decomposing. Poison is your only option otherwise you will suffer severe property damage.

1.) Get a cage, water bottle and some bedding.
2.) Punch a hole in your wall.
3.) Free pet rats! :D

They're friendlier than you'd think. Also they love peanut butter and are very smart so they need brain stimulation. Teach em some tricks every now and again.

I don't know how many rats there are but it's actually a few I think, I know they're suppose to find water after eating the poison but it still makes me afraid they'll just die somewhere in the house anyway. If I use rat poison I'll be lucky if they die on the ceiling or ideally outside of the house so at least just maybe I can figure out a way to get rid of the body

Rats breed rapidly and if you do not poison them soon the number will balloon to hundreds. They will breed beyond the carrying capacity of your attic and some will die up there anyway. Believe it or not rats do not have healthcare so thinking you can avoid them dying in your walls and ceiling by ignoring them will not work. If you keep them in their cage they won't pick up diseases! Please be kind to them and they will be kind to you in return. I trained mine to go outside and bring me back jewelry in exchange for treats. Made a small fortune for about a year.

Traps are the way. I don't recommend glue traps as they suffer horribly. You may be disgusted at just how many rats can accumulate in your home before you become aware of them. The rats also cannibalize each other the moment on of them dies. It could take a month or longer to get rid of them.
