I am the person who wrote the comment that upset many. I like RMS, and I like Ian. Both of them are just technology people who said some things people disagree with, but they are primarily known for technology. Nothing extreme will show up on initial inspections of search results other than some may find them controversial. Bicha is incredibly notorious and has damning information come up about him if one were to search for him, but he also is someone well known for technology who committed a major crime. All these people get defended in Linux circles constantly too.
The difference is all these people primarily known for technology, where as your furry has made their life revolve around a fetish and believing they were an animal, to the point they were a very infamous lolcow a decade ago that got their own ED page.
This is not someone known for being a technologist who has unusual interests, opinions, or that got in a spot of controversy. It is someone whose entire identity has always revolved around being an "otherkin" voraphile.
