Being homeless fucking sucks, do not do it. Besides the hunger, there's the boredom. The incredible boredom of having nothing to do all day, followed by the occasional bouts of incredible fear when some junkie starts stalking you from the shadows and you can't stop moving until you are on the other side of town after catching a train and dodging the security guards who want you to pay for a ticket.

Southern California (or Hawaii, if you can sneak in) is the way to go to live outdoors digging through Whole Foods' dumpsters.

You will have to do your research on where would be best, Northern California would be my first bet but i'm not sure on the state specific laws, you want to find a place with public facilities (Toilets, Showers, Library, Outdoor Gym etc), If you're serious start stacking your cash, sell your house, all of your worldly things, change your address on anything important to your parents house or a friend you can trust. Use library to increase your knowledge of survival (Clothing, Wild Food, Traps, Finding Water, Cleaning Water, Making a Camp site) Use a computer at the library to research urban survival (Dumpster Diving, Pick locking, Stealing, Casing places etc)

I would use my cash frivolously only when needed to extend the amount of time I can sustain this life style.

I travelled around my state for years, I was never bored once. If you can't find something to do when you can do anything you're just stupid.

I was never poor but I never spent money unless it was life or death.

I could be dropped in the middle of nowhere with just the shirt on my back and survive no problems, the problem with homeless people is they're contempt with being homeless otherwise they wouldn't be homeless.

When I was 18 I quit my Job with $4000 dollars saved up and went out in the world, I returned when I was 21 and had $3600 dollars, 3 years and I spent 400 dollars, if you can't come up with 400 dollars in 3 years from just begging you deserve it.
