The biggest one is finding your own style that works for you. You can emulate other styles but if you're not part of the scene you risk looking like a poser when socializing around others who are. It's not that tough. Lots of places will let you try them on before you buy them. Thrift stores can be very helpful for this without breaking the bank. You can snap pictures and references and ask other people for their input. Just remember that everyone has their own preferences and their opinion can be skewed

I'm more or less in the same boat, though I still have no interest in makeup (it's expensive, I'd probably hate the feeling of it, and I don't like the idea of having to change how my facial features look to be deemed presentable or cute). But I wish I could dress cuter but I have no clue how. I tend to just pair a cute top with a pair of long black pants and sneakers, and occasionally wear a casual dress (tho I need to wear leggings underneath to avoid chaffing, which limits my options). If I see something cute when I go shopping, I'll buy it, but I don't go clothes shopping that often, and when I do the options suck. Even if I do find something cute, it's hard to figure out what to wear it with. I'd love to buy a ton of east asian shit, but that's not realistic for me. I kinda wanna learn how to sew so I can just make the clothes I wanna wear, but even then there'd be an issue of shoes, and my feet are too big (size 10~11) for anything cute. I also will just go insane if the clothes I'm wearing aren't comfy, which also makes dressing up hard because a lot of fashion kind of expects you to sacrifice comfort for looks. This is another reason I wanna learn to make clothes. I'd be able to make cute things while also making sure they don't irritate me like a lot of normal clothes do.

i'm white but i absolutely get what you mean, op. i had an ftm phase as a teen and very much rejected all things feminine, now i'm an adult, past that era of my life & completely confused by everything. having to get your first bra fitting as an adult woman is kind of humiliating desu. i've mostly figured out eyeliner, though!

I'm an H cup (though when I last bought a bra, the person helping me suggested I get a sister size (one band size larger but one cup size smaller) to push my tits a bit closer together or whatever, so I currently wear a G cup) and finding a wireless bra that still holds my tits nicely was a game-changer. I do have to occasionally break out my underwire bra for this one dress where my tits need to be held up perfectly, but for the most part, I'm completely done with wired bras. The only problem is my wireless bra has narrow shoulder straps that aren't cushioned like my old bras' straps were, so it digs into my shoulders a bit more.
