>>81900289 (OP)I lived sort of like this. One day, I decided to go back to church with the intention of getting kicked out by following the rules. So, I took every opportunity to go to bible study and volunteer. I joined the worship band. I joined the leadership team. I gained the respect of many members of the congregation.
Then, the church leadership decided to make the church explicitly anti-LGBT. I talked to the pastors in private that this was wrong. They disagreed. Then, in the leadership meetings, I repeated this before they voted to codify their bigotry. Finally, I was asked one Sunday to pray during worship time. So, I prayed against the church joining an anti-LGBT organization. Later that week, I was informed that my original intention had been fulfilled.
The rule that I was following was the Matthew 18 process for solving disagreements in a church. The final step of that process is, "If they still don't listen, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector." People asked, "Where is Anon?" "He was kicked out for the prayer that he said." "Because he told the truth?" Less than a year later, the church closed.
