Sleep schedule isn't something that can be fixed. Sleep debt accrues with interest too, it's insidious. Maybe I'm being pedantic but rhythms is how I see healthy sleep. I've worked nights basically since entering the work force and after ten+ years it's starting to manifest. If I'm not working I take naps when I feel like it. Blackout windows, ac on 65 in summer, heat on 60 during winter. Phone is pretty much always set to red color shift. When I really want to sleep but don't feel tired I seek help from Satan or Japan, reading the Bible or Kodansha Japanese readers(disjointed and kind of boring dry isolated sentences) with my warm reading lamp usually has my brain going srsly, no srsly, were doing this, OK sorry here's your sleepy. Any nonfiction will do the trick of course, but I've read Bible before so it's not exactly novel experience, and disjointed sentences are not interesting like struggling with manga and pulling up the dictionary every few seconds can be. But it is still a good habit to stop reading on a screen and go back to paper two hours before bedtime. I went overboard with thriftbooks.com after a housefire and shopping for books somehow felt good even though I'm usually a turbokike when it comes to spending money. I have rebuilt my library to about the same size as before. Books I haven't read go together, roughly by category. I like books because it pulls you in and can hold attention a lot easier than most content you get online. I like shit posting and blogs, but youtube murdered blogs so if you dislike video all that's left on internet is shit posting.

so do you just have sleep debt your whole life then or do you just need to sleep a lot more than usual for a while to fix it

I am unable to answer this question confidently. When I got fired for being pureblood I lived a diurnal life. Got up around 6 or 7 and went to the gym and really milked it hard, 90-120 minutes six days a week. I felt amazing after a few months because my sleep problems fixed themselves. I gained a ton of weight. I felt happy. After two years I was running low on money and had multiple bad trades and positions in crypto to the point I was nervous about lasting another six months as neet. So I found a place that let me work without the vax. Back on nights doing 12 hour shifts. Weight fell off at an alarming pace, cognition dulled, within six months I was back in the same shinny position before my glorious neet times.
So gun to my head, probably you can catch up and repay the sleep debt after a few months of good sleep. But humans are probably meant to be diurnal, and physical work is probably the secret sauce. Sitting at a desk and doing brain heavy shit is not good because it is exhausting but only mentally. Physically you're just sitting on your ass looking at bad screen and can't wait to get home to look at good screen.
I want to be a farmer. A peasant even. A subsistence farmer. As long as I can pirate anime, be housed, and not starve I'm happy. Getting education, license, etc. and a real job is probably the dumbest thing I ever did.
