Do you realise what lockdowns in your junior/senior year mean? It means no girlfriends, no friends, no prom, no school trips. It means that you end the part of your life when you're supposed to be making lifelong friend groups and experiencing lifelong formative memories by being locked in your room. Realise every person under 18 was forced to be an asocial NEET for almost 2 years. Before COVID i was doing martial arts, in a basketball team, going to competitions, gym etc. During COVID literally everything shut down, and when the lockdowns lifted most of the clubs were disbanded. We still had to wear masks the entire first year of uni and were not allowed to sit close together or stand in groups between classes, so nobody socialised. All the clubs and societies in my uni disbanded during COVID and none reformed. I tried to revive the uni choir, made flyers and everything... Like 3 people showed up. A lot of people i know never recovered mentally from the lockdowns and are glued to the screen and on discord for 12+ hours a day. The guy in OP is just a victim of circumstance, like many others.
