have any of you ever travelled alone? be it for work or just because, doesnt matter if it was just the next bigger city for the weekend or half a year on another continent. Share some stories like what was the biggest culture shock for example

>be me, asian
>travel to southeast european country
>people love their country
>instead of wanting me to go away, they introduce me to nice places and good food
>actually feel welcomed at a gathering despite being the odd one out
>local man showed me cool places during a hike
I kind of want to move there but I don't really like warm countries

Ive only travelled alone. Ive never travelled in a group unless you consider paying a bunch of rangers, guides and porters to be a group

it was about the size of a single rotor of a wind turbine so not very big but cool nonetheless, i even got to stand in it
and the eclipse itself was pretty cool, was surreal how dark everything got and suddenly the temperature dropped massively for a few minutes. after the end of it all though i didnt really have a plan so i just farted around in the desert for like 5 hours with no goal before leaving

>very nice, and very chill that they welcomed you like that,
It gives me hope that an outcast such as myself can still be welcomed. But then, most of them are from the older generation. I dunno if I'll be able to date anyone, but that wouldn't be a change from the status quo.
>how long did you stay there?
6 days in total. I travelled a bit in the capital then went to 2 smaller towns. Felt quite luxurious because I could just take a cab willy nilly since it cost as much as taking a bus in my country lol.

did you have a particular reason to travel there or did you just do it for fun? But must feel nice to know that not all hope is lost. Really depends on culture. From what country are you if i may ask? I suppose from a richer country in asia, something like korea?

Got a 30 day notice to move out of apt. Sold/gave away/took to dump all my stuff. Checked into cheapest motel in town. Figured out a game plan. Took bus 70 miles to airport. Flew halfway across country. Lived in another motel for a month. Got shitty job. Got shitty apt. Worked six months. Saved half my paychecks. Got credit card. Quit job. Planning my next move. Did this all alone. No friends. No family . It was hard as hell. Still hard because I don't know where I should be or what I should be doing in life. Also having a midlife/existential crisis

Would be cool alsokf you feel brave to take a hostel room and try to enlist some shit or talk to your roomates. Thats an easy way to talk to people.
Just dont be too political because youll meet a lot of hippies and leftists.
Otherwise if youd rather be left alone you can just rent a place for yourself and have your comfy trip alone

Can't be too specific as I feel it'd make me too recognisable, but I was visiting a couple of friends for an event. Very normie of me, I know, but I'm still khhv.
>Really depends on culture.
And the newer generation most likely do not think like the older generation. But then, I did make those friends after all, so who knows?
>From what country are you if i may ask? I suppose from a richer country in asia, something like korea?
One of those, yes. I live in Europe though.

Yea. The first big thing i did alone was drive from Chicago to Colorado and camp in the mountains for a week. I did it once i looked up a route on Google maps. that just made it seem real and possible. It was awesome. For 4 years after that i kept doing big solo trips. It was cool. Now ive seen the major things i wanna see and dont have any motivation anymore.

i think i would take a hotelroom somewhere for myself, dont plan to mingle with hostelfolk, but i wanna check out their cultural sites and go to evening concerts in bars and stuff like that, i already know a little bit spanish and try to improve it till then. I was once in andalucia with my parents like 12 years ago and it was beautiful, i wanted to check it out again and now i think the time has come, and i play lots of flamenco and older classical spain stuff on my guitar and would like to see a concert there
>>81909325

Well is there anything you wanna see? Dont go somewhere just to go somewhere. I really wanted to see mountains so i spent all day out there hiking.
