It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm hanging out with friends, I'm thinking about the conversation. If I'm playing a game, I'm thinking about the game.

It used to be like that to begin with much less frequency but it did happen relatively often, even back in like '17 and I'd assume prior. recently though it's been like every fucking thread to the point it's downright annoying. I remember back in like 2012 I saw my first unashamed ad post on reddit and essentially stopped using the site out of disgust.

Sometimes ads are more subtle, but it is the internet as a whole now. You cannot browse anything without someone trying to control your opinion.
