They're being idiots about it, but I get what they meant. I dated a girl at 25 (though I shouldn't have), and I wouldn't have been able to enjoy or appreciate her if I met her when I did my first gf at 18. When I was 25 I was able to do the whole "take care of someone" thing, which I wouldn't have been able to do as a teenager. I mean the emotional stuff (she was an emotional mess), I was pretty stupid then. Also stupid at 25 because I fucked it up.
Hell I'm stupid even now at almost 40.
Now, at ~40, I would date entirely different women then I would have back then (if I was even interested in dating again).
Many of them don't mean "whore around when you're young and marry someone stable" (though many of the do), they simply mean as you get older you prioritize different things.
Other oldfags will tell you that your sex drive drops as you get older, so therefore you still value sex just not as much. I needed to fap every day and sometimes multiple times at that when I was young. Now I'm fine once a day or even a couple of times a week. Peace is the most important thing now.
But, if I was dating again, I would prioritize "who would be a good mother" rather than how they compliment me, because I'm already 100% a complete person on my own. We don't share the same hobbies? Cool, I can watch anime in peace and maybe we can talk about whatever over dinner.
