What's your "edge" /r9k/?
What makes (You) think you're better than everyone else, *if* you think you're better than everyone else

For me, I'm "competent" in the sense that I never give up, I make it work - no matter what I go through, I give it my all

I'm not talking about competing with the best of the best, I'm talking about competing over the average man who's only concern is to give what he *thinks* is his worth. i.e. min wage = min effort

i'll take the intelligence and the creativity but family? you didnt get to choose your family, they're just there - sure, as a support network they can be helpful but if you wanna make it on your own? ehh, doesn't sit right with me

oh yeah i don't think having a good family makes me better than anyone else at all. i guess i just wrote that because the title said 'edge' so i interpreted it as an edge in life

Not much, I guess I'm pretty stubborn and most people will compromise on basically anything at the slightest push, also apparently I'm gifted, I still think of myself as a retard but having been around more average people lately, most of them do seem rather slow and they struggle a lot more then I do learning anything.
I've never really studied at all in my life I've just been winging it and getting decent results just trying to think logically and piecing together the few things I learned half listening in class, but apparently most people can't do that.

you know what? i take it back, having a strong support network *is* an edge

it's like how the rich and the wealthy take care of each other, they help each other out - sure, theres the occasional family feud but they almost always look after their own before anyone else

I'm pretty smart so I feel I have been able to attain things in life without much effort which allows me to be both lazy and successful

>most people can't do that.
yep, once you get older you realize that the world basically runs on the bones of very *very* few people

i know some folks are gonna judge and say how i'm a "good little golem" but i've worked jobs before where folks would say they're glad when i'm around because i make it work, as in everything runs smooth when i'm on the job

Yeah it does seem like there's always one or two people at any place keeping shit together, usually for no extra compensation too, I specifically try to not be these people desu, you've gotta hit your employers with the weaponized incompetence now and then because it's not like being one of the people keeping shit together benefits you in any way.

I keep trying to be good, participate, and help those around me, even though I'm still pretty bad at it and I have plenty of reasons not to.

I am super reasonable. Like I am immune to emotion affecting my judgment and have some grasp of how to break things down logically.

Like for example on r*ddit someone might say "the romans never had an industrial revolution because they were dependent on slaves", but in reality this is a ridiculous reductionism. The Romans didn't even have windmills, a common feature of a medieval village, for example, not that windmills alone guarantee an industrial revolution, but it is evident that the Romans were far behind in many areas.

Now most people just sort of blurt out the r*ddit meme without thinking. You have n*rmies with good jobs and families and friends, but for some reason they accept these very blunt truisms and never question them or look at the bigger picture. It is bizarre to me.

>weaponized incompetence
true that, i act out sometimes or just fuck around a bit - do silly shit that my co-workers would love but to the detriment of my bosses/performance

it's a very fine line to thread on, too good and everyone depends on you, too bad and you might as well quit

I pretend to be highly competent and I know how to make supervisors think I'm their top guy when in reality I spend 90% of every shift slacking off, and get away with breaking a lot of rules because they think I'm worth it.
