It is a interview. Entering relationships shouldn't be done trivially. It's an oath. Whether they specified what the oath is. You can get quite a bit of leeway. You can't expect others to adhere to some ethos you've secretly hidden and didn't tell them about while secretly hoping they're you're one and only that likely gets a lot more attention from the opposite sex than you.
Tell me you're not interviewing candidates for your affections? I was quite harsh myself at time.

I always assume either gender that out right hates the other has that sort of issue really, they can't let go of the idea of never having their love, but they can't stand them either so they get trapped in this situation where they either have to hate themselves for being a broken mess or hate everyone else for just not fitting their ideals.
