Is there any hope for escaping loneliness? I haven't had a single friend since fucking elementary school and I'm in my 30's. The more I think about it the thought of going through this for another 30-40 years is just incredibly sad. How do people do it and not kill themselves? It just seems so miserable to exist without anyone else in your life. What's even the point?

i think after a certain age you either settle to be "friends" with people you dont even like that much, or you just stay alone. try to find communities to participate in, even if you're not actually interested in them.

Beyond that you could buy people things to be your friend even small things like a box of chocolate, a game they like, a figurine
Now obviously you don't have to buy them something all the time but it really helps people to want to get to know you if you do nice things for them. In your 30s you'll probably have a lot of older people friends who can reciprocate your generosity

When I was 20 I naively thought I could make friends in college or the workplace or eventually get a gf that didn't mind my existence. But yeah none of that happened I'm still just as alone now as I was then. It doesn't seem like it ever gets better so I'm wondering why I continue to care so much about not being alone. Maybe this is why people get into drugs to make the existential thoughts go away by becoming retarded. I'm too cowardly to do that though.

I watch some vtubers and they're nice but there's always this aura of "this is just my day job, I'm gonna go hang out with my real friends after stream" that feels kinda lonely. I appreciate them for being there for us lonely losers though even if it's just a job.

I've tried this before but it usually just makes things awkward when they feel obligated to talk to you for a few days before ghosting. Especially doesn't work with women in my experience but men also find it weird idk maybe I'm the weird one.

I tried joining various discords for anime, games, etc but it's all zoomers I can't relate to at all. It sucks.

I think the loneliness might affect you worse if you're an extrovert that just happens to have no one to give you fulfillment. It's weird but a lot of autists aren't introverted, they just get punched in the face by reality any time they try befriending people and become conditioned to avoid bothering strangers as a result.
That said, I didn't feel as bad when I was younger because I figured I had time left and I was surrounded by other young men in the same predicament online to share in our misery. Once you're older the isolation and feeling of "it's so fucking over" really kicks in. Especially as your coworkers start getting married and starting families and you're still at the stage of trying to make a friend, let alone ever getting a gf.

I like soulsgames too, have you played nightrein? I've played it a bit but I suck at it... I suck at soulsgames in general, but I still love them
I've also played a bit of disgaea 1, didn't get very far though, around 20 hours or so, which is nothing in that game.
monster hunter world is also pretty fun.

I've been playing ff14 lately, or, was, since my subscription ended yesterday, I'm not sure what I'll be playing now, I might play mgs3 since I've played 1 and 2, and with the remake coming, I'd like try it, but I couldn't do it without finishing the original, either that, or maybe read a visual novel like fate...

I never played MGS but I watched Mint stream all of them so I'll look forward to her playing the remake. Her excitement and love for the series makes it fun even though Kojima's narrative style doesn't really grip me the same way.
Today I've been playing pic related it's pretty fun if you like city builders.

Problem is meeting people irl is a lot harder. Maybe I'm too shy for clubs/hobbies they always feel so unwelcoming like you're intruding on an existing friend group.

I'm kind of late to the series so I'm going in backwards order. World was my first, and my favorite monster in it was Legiana. The fight against it was just so cool in that game having to climb to the peak of the biome etc. I also liked Tobi Kadachi mostly for the Palico set. My favorite weapons were insect glaive and gunlance. Especially glaive, the mobility was so fun.

Whenever I take my meds before bed I dream of a nice girl that gives me lots of affection and usually we're in school even though I'm fucking 30 and I feel like my life was just a bad nightmare I'd finally escaped and then I wake up and feel like shit for the rest of the day. Also in a recent dream I died in a plane crash that was cool.

this is true, I haven't played it much for this reason, you play one match and just feel tired from it, it's not immersive and frankly it feels a bit chaotic to play

I wouldn't recommend you to play it just for that, it's a fun game with a nice story, but it takes a while to "get to the good part", that, and socializing is something else, I haven't made any friends in over 100 hours and probably won't since I'm not interested in it, though, you should know that there's a 90% chance that the cute catgirl that's healing you is a dude.

im pretty sure it feels that way to everyone anon, its normal. in a way, you are intruding, but you're welcome to do so since the community is built around people that like the same thing. besides, if they didnt want new members joining then the club wouldn't be open. i know its easier said than done, but best thing you can do is just go for it. dont overthink things too much, try and see what happens. you have nothing to lose and everything to gain after all!

hm, world is definitely one of the best ones. i've played it for around 300 hours or so, and my favourite monster in that specific game is probably tobi kadachi. i remember feeling bad about killing him the first time because i thought it looked cool and cute... legiana is definitely one of the best "biome boss" monsters in the series. feels really badass to fight
