Why is there so much "immigrants are taking our jobs" rhetoric floating around? I'm a white man in the USA and I've never struggled to get a job anywhere. When I do see immigrant people in the workplace, they are always qualified to be there. Most of them work dogshit jobs that the white folk don't want anyway. I think you guys are being out-competed by people willing to study/work hard and so you default to racist talking points.

It takes away bargaining power to the common joe by there being a larger pool of people willing to work for lesser wages. If you're curious why others think a certain thing, maybe it's because they believed what the people in charge of that thing have said about that thing.
As to your second point about it being a "voter issue," sure one way to change things would be to make it illegal for corporations to hire immigrants, but that would be pretty ridiculous and unfair, so maybe a better solution would be for voters to petition for sane immigration policy, which is exactly what they did.

Immigrants taking jobs is mostly an issue with union work. Unions in america cost a ton and take much longer to build because they're doing it correctly and safely. construction companies hire immigrant help because they dont need to be part of the union to work, they work for much cheaper, and will get projects done much faster. this also goes for skilled manufacturing jobs like boiler makers or welders. this hurts american unions, keeps wages low, and only benefits the rich.
