Are there any commies/socialists who are well off?

I'm close to making six figures, and honestly, all I want is for my taxes to be lowered. I don't care about anything else. I've met self-professed socialists online and most of them are, quite frankly, losers who are barely functioning spergs who rely on unemployment insurance/welfare to get by because they're too dysfunctional for even simple delivery jobs. That or they're stuck with shitty mcjobs and can't find anything better.

Yes the ones that teach in academia

Didn't really consider them but I guess.

Usually academics will be broke until they're in their mid 30s before they can find a tenure, though. Arts/humanities PhDs are oversaturated

I know about a genuine communist politician who was earning 6 figures as some form of councillor. But he used up all his salary to fund his political party, and he lived in social housing since he did not have much after that.

Socialism includes free education, healthcare, and even universal basic income. Without taxes, socialist programs cannot be supported. Same with communism in theory.

You are basically only wanting a system that benefits YOU, and not other people.

Brown, black, or white it doesn't matter. Certain ethnic groups will always be the elite's scapegoats as they continue to seize more power and instead make horrible decisions that only benefit themselves.

I fear you've completely misunderstood the meaning of socialism and what its basic tenets are: supporting all people via social ownership to better society.

Bay area executives making 30 million dollars a year are the very opposite of that.

I'm culturally right-wing and economically left-wing. DevOps, $200,000 a year. I'm also in favor of lower taxes for myself and other ordinary people because I believe that social programs and other public services should be funded by taxing corporations and very rich people who are richer than me.

That means OP completely misunderstood the theory of communism and socialism.

And I also doubt those with the same mindset will be the ones benefitting with the elites of such a system, unless they're in bed with them or were born in massive generational wealth beforehand.

Yes but you can tax the real rich guys, billionaires and multimillionaires a heck of a lot more if you wanted. It's criminal how low tax rate the rich pay in much of the world.
Every powerful nation refuses to tax the ultra rich for corrupt reasons.

Socialism is top down government control of industry, nothing you listed is that. The most liberal approach to welfare in general is to distribute funds to people for the people to then spend as they see fit (e.g., the negative income tax proposal from Friedman). This is a bottom up approach and not compatible with most implementations of socialism which typically give vouchers for specific goods or classes of good.
Socialists will say that socialism is about the people controlling the means of production, which is true, but socialism is always implemented top down rather than bottom up so who cares. I'm not even sure how you can implement it bottom up without markets to be quite honest so if anyone wants to explain that I would love to hear about it.

Yes, but socialists don't want there taxes to be raised, they want the taxes on the people above them to be raised, the more well off they are the higher they move that bar.

Yeah but I'm like an old school socialist where I hate immigrants for undermining labor and think everyone who even so much as steals a candy bar should be locked up in prison, because real socialism requires a strong national pride and a sense of duty to contribute to society and anyone who tries to undermine the social contract via theft/drugs/crime must be annihilated.
If you had to put a name to it then I guess you could call me a national socialist lol.
I'm not a 2020s socialist that believes heroin should be legal and black people should be allowed to steal things because slavery happened 200 years ago.

>Socialism is top down government control of industry
No. Socialism is ownership of industry by the workers. Stock-based compensation is more socialist than government ownership is.
Anonymous No.82057579 [Report]
>>82057531
You ignored the entire rest of my post lol. Yes, socialism as originally described is ownership of industry by workers, but that's never how it actually gets implemented. Every purportedly socialist nation has employed top down measures to control industrial production and civilian consumption directly. I can not think of a single bottom up socialist nation (or whatever is meant to replace the nation state in True Socialism) unless you want to pretend that tribal people are socialist, but the complete and utter lack of scale to tribal society makes it kind of pointless to even talk about.

>Socialism is ownership of industry by the workers.
Doesn't work at all in a modern society of complex enterprises with thousands of employees. If Marx and Engels saw modern industry and Foxconn suicide net factories they'd burn everything they ever wrote and abandoned the idea there's any sort of nobility in laboring.

>Doesn't work at all in a modern society of complex enterprises with thousands of employees
Simple proof of this being that co-ops are perfectly legal and rarely if ever exist at scale. Most co-ops are relatively simple businesses with few employees like coffee shops or local grocery stores. There's clearly some efficiency loss when scaling that doesn't effect the traditional corporate structure as badly. Of course the larger issue with Marxism is the insistence on Labor Theory of Value which is outdated by like 200 years and has no empirical backing whatsoever.
