Far too often, no matter how interested the girl may be, she herself will never be able to have anything beyond shallow conversation because of her own problems. Things normal friends do, such as hanging out in VC and such tend to be far too much of a hassle with some of these women. And even if you two do end up hanging out, it won't necessarily mean she will be interesting then. Obviously, text will end up always making for shallow empty conversation with not much substance. Not that text can't have substance, not at all, but you need to be pretty close already for it to have any.
And the issue is that with many of the women here, it won't matter how close you are. She will always be boring. You can tell pretty easily from just a few first impressions if it's something worth working for or not.
I'm not going to claim that the robots you talked to had fun personalities in secret and just didn't bother because you were boring or anything. Many robots here are not interesting people, too. In reality, it's an issue with both genders, as usual.
