I know. I managed to finish HW, but then I got sick of the dead zones and cities. I kinda wish I kept playing because I've been wanting to experience SB without skipping (I had a boosted character years ago), but dunno, it was too lonely. Like even Ishgard was devoid of people. Being forced to do the story is one thing, but having nobody around makes it feel like a second rate singleplayer game.

The MMO genre is dead in general, has been since the mid 2010s. I played the original vanilla/TBC back in the day but never managed to get into Classic. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but it just doesn't feel fun for me to play an MMO if I got nobody to play with from the very start. Maybe that's why I'm over FFXIV. You're just alone all the time running from place to place reading walls of text and watching cutscenes more than you're fighting shit.

I already skipped in late SB and yeah I had a maxed character who was even an omnicrafter (back when crafting meant something). The game is just not really interesting at endgame unless you're a raider or wanna use the game as a 3D chatroom, which is fun but I'd get into too much drama.
