I dump tremendous amounts of cash into low-cost index funds that follow the US and International stock markets. I follow the Boglehead philosophy of investment, essentially. I do this so that I may retire as soon as possible. It is said that the Roman emperor Diocletian abdicated from his position in favor of growing cabbages at his lavish palace. I wish for about the same. I have a gf, I have the STEM job, I've come to terms with who I am as a man in terms of what I love. I just want to settle down in a rural area with lots of trees and work the soil. Maybe adopt a kid or two; alternatively, impregnate the gf once I make her my wife if she's down for that. Give me the simple life, oh lord...

it honestly should be way more, I guess I'm about average for a single guy with a middle class job and no wife or kids. it's very frustrating to know that if I just would have made some different decisions (e.g. not selling NVDA or AMD in 2017) I'd be a multi-millionaire and retired by now.

You have an admirable dream anon. I'm warning you now though, your girlfriend will not be able to cope with it. Women have a very hard time respecting men that do not work even if the man earned his retirement. Unless you plan on becoming an actual full time farmer that works in the fields 8 hours a day, it WILL become a problem.
