Building a house is easier than cooking. As a bored kid I cut down a bunch of trees and then made a thatch roof from broom straw. Open sides because I wanted light and air, but it was badass, and pure naive architecture. Like I'd read a little but for the most part it was cut trees, set posts, lashing, roof, done. Leftover I tried using pegs and holes to make basic furniture. Not fancy, literally just using dry and green wood put together so it shrinks tight replacing the need for pins.
Cooking there's varying time, heat, and quantity of ingredients and harmony to consider. When building a house you just have to ask is it safe and functional? If no then you beef up the size of members. But even there is immense lattitude. If you only have skinny sticks you build a roundhouse or yurt. Big logs then you can do timber frame. Got too many trees? Don't bother with timber just stack, peg, and chink for a traditional log cabin.
