What is wrong with people? It's a great game, but people are treating it like the second coming of Christ.
Everyone is blind to the problems of the game (bad performance, janky controls, linear level design, etc).
>Highest user score ever on Metacritic.
>"This is the first game that made me feel something"
>"In my 30 years of gaming, this is the first game I've cried with."
>"Best RPG in the last 20 years." They somehow seem to forget the existence of New Vegas, Mass Effect, Skyrim, BG3, Witcher and so on.
>"It is art that transcends gaming."

And why in God's name is there a parry system with a tighter window than Sekiro in a turn-based RPG? Also, some of the enemies have longer windups than Elden Ring bosses.
I know for a fact that if this game was made by Ubisoft or Square Enix, normies would have an opinion way different of it.
The music is peak though, I'll give them that.

Really should be on /v/ there isn't a tldr for this, most games of the last 5-6 years have overall lacked quality and polish to get a product out the door to meet sales targets and boost profits to shareholders. They weren't games that focused on good core mechanics. They weren't games that respected the players' time. They weren't games with monetization that the majority of people wanted to interact with and felt they gained value out of it. They were corporate cash grabs in a time when the gaming scene was exploding due to COVID. With that boost slowly trailing off, the corporations got more and more greedy, cutting corners, projecting unrealistic sales goals, burning out their teams while slashing their numbers, ultimately to create a product long killed by committee and DEI. Just to try to make their equivalent of success GTA online. This game and it's development was a literal showcase antithetical to that. It's a return to form of good game development.

The game is an 8/10 in a vacuum and it is a 10/10 when surrounded by everything else that released in 2017ish to current year. What is so hard to understand about that?

it's something that invokes a feeling many white men do not feel: empathy

it's the same with red dead redemption 2
