Actually you will still feel just as wronged when you do it to them, you will also just feel guilt and anxiety at different hours about what you did. The tendency to commit cruelty or not is not just a rational decision but actually a personality or possibly even relates to how you concieve reality. It's not a choice it's a way you interpret existing. You might be interested in reading "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky
