Maybe they just aren't interested in what you are discussing. I have a friend who will do what you are describing to me, and he will talk for probably half an hour straight about something that I know nothing about and care very little about.
I have to cut him off sometimes like "anon, that's great but I'm not really that interested in this to be honest and I don't know much about it so I can't really contribute to this conversation"
At which point he will either drop it and change subject, or continue ranting and it's apparent at that point that he just wants to talk outloud about something so I just let him and tune him out.
I am pretty good at gauging people's interest in things I am talking about, due partially to having a bunch of sperg friends over the years who will do this exact thing forever if you let them.
