Mad how there are some oldies who all they do is go on cruises 10 months out of every year. Basically just cruising around until they die. Gf's best friend is a fucking mess of a woman. Divorced at 24 and had a sprog with her now ex-husband who is a genuinely psychopathic abuser, stalker etc. I mean that in the most literal sense I can, while he has never been to a psychologist I guarantee he is diagnostically psychopathic. Nearly killed her several times. Cheated on her constantly, had kids with other women. Full on rages. Threatened her and her friends and family all the time. Sat on the sofa all day smoking weed demanding she get a better job so he can gamble more (no literally, he didn't even pretend otherwise).
Now she's calling my gf on the phone every day in tears, breaking down because she thinks her in laws are trying to take her kid from her and are going to leverage their psycho son to intimidate her into doing so.
Yeah, that all sucks and everything, but holy shit me and the gf haven't shagged in like three weeks because all the stress is getting to her and 'the mood' is never right. Fucking hell.

It's not difficult.
>>82085457>Jesus of Nazereth existedAlmost certainly
>He was crucified by the Romans because of his itinerant preachingHe was almost certainly crucified but not solely because of his preaching. He was executed because Roman authorities saw him as a potential revolutionary or threat to public order.
>He diedWell yeah I mean there is one documented situation where someone did survive being crucified, but as a general rule it meant death
>He rose from the dead after three days and ascended to heavenI don't think anyone could really call this a "historical fact" even if they believed it
>>82085506When I said because of his itinerant preaching I implicitly meant because that involved him claiming (at least in *secret* to his followers) that he would be the messiah i.e. the temporal ruler of Israel, rather than any kind of divine meaning which was later interpolated into what he said after his death.

>>82085559Well it all contributed of course, but the Romans wouldn't necessarily get involved with something like that; they'd be happy to let the local Jewish leaders deal with such disturbances. The real affront and why the Romans got involved was because Jesus was telling his followers he was the messiah, a claim which directly challenged Roman imperium and so could not be allowed.

not even some "today's stats: executed THREE men in Golgotha" and the dates happen to line up?
>>82085639I would say there is almost a certainty he claimed to be the messiah to his followers, but not to the wider public. You have to remember also that messiah back then to a Jew in the first century did not mean the son of god or anything theological. Messiah meant 'anointed one', basically a king, not a spiritual king over a godly kindgom/heaven, but a literal king that ruled an actual real-world kingdom on earth. Hence his claiming to be the coming messiah implied he would essentially overthrow Roman rule of Judaea and establish the kingdom of Israel again. Romans weren't having it. It is only later that messiah took on a theological meaning in the colloquial usage of the word.
also, did people used to just be tougher when it came to punishment/death?
supposedly a lot of those "cruel medieval torture device" museums were a Victorian myth, never actually used, all that. but a lot of cultures throughout history would casually lop someone's hand off or execute them in some painful way.

>>82085724Most people look we interact with and discuss these topics with come at such things through the lens of post-enlightenment western european human rights mindset. These things are incredibly modern and not even practiced globally in the present.
Back then it was very much the opinion that almost all life was very, very cheap and they had no time for 'retributive justice' or whatever other sort of gay shit the government insists we try to do instead of actually punishing criminals. You did something bad? You're gonna be dead before sundown. They didn't fuck around with crime, lad.
For the most part though all those weird torture things were just made up like you say.
>>82085724>>82085736>He was first subjected to a torture in which his legs were painfully compressed by devices called 'boots'. He was then tortured with red-hot pincers; the hand with which he had held the knife during the attempted assassination was burned using sulphur; molten wax, molten lead, and boiling oil were poured into his wounds. He was then remanded to the royal executioner Charles-Henri Sanson (who would ironically later go on to execute King Louis XVI) who, after emasculating Damiens, harnessed horses to his arms and legs to be dismembered. But Damiens' limbs did not separate easily: the officiants ordered Sanson to cut Damiens' tendons, and once that was done the horses were able to perform the dismemberment. Once Damiens was dismembered, to the applause of the crowd, his reportedly still-living torso was burnt at the stake. Some accounts say he died when his last remaining arm was removed.
>>82085724Yeah. Basically, the lower your chances of getting caught, the harsher the punishment had to be. You had almost no chance of getting caught doing crimes back then. So if you did, the punishment had to be brutal as fuck as a deterrent.

>>82085823In general the bloody code presided over the lowest levels of crime in history. England was so notably crime-free that European often remarked upon it when visiting. There's even a theory that because the bloody code ensured that basically the most violent/stupid 1-3% of every generation was removed from the gene pool for a few centuries it had a eugenic effect in raising overall IQ and pro-social personality traits which eventually birthed the Industrial Revolution in England a solid century before other nations tried their hand at it.

>>82085961Look at low-crime countries e.g. Singapore, Japan, Saudi Arabia. The justice systems share similarities:
>long sentences>corporal punishment>capital punishment>high conviction rates>swift justiceMeanwhile the wider societies share similarities as well:
>affluent (this is a reinforcing effect with low crime)>homogeneousSo compare that to Britain where we have absurdly lenient punishments (in many cases literally no punishments at all), cratering conviction rates despite skyrocketing reporting rates (there is also a blackpilling phenomenon related to this where people know the police are so useless that they simply don't report a lot of crimes, so even though crimes are going up it's still under-reported by a lot; grim), no corporal punishment, no capital punishment, very very very very slow justice system. And also in societal terms an increasingly impoverished and non-homogeneous population. It's no wonder crime is going up.
Crime is actually very simple to stop. You make punishments ACTUALLY deterrent and then for the mongs who still commit crimes despite that you simply remove them from the population either through long-term incarceration or execution. Crime is mostly a choice.
>>82086056yeah that sounds like a fair enough summary really. definitely went through the blackpilling thing you mentioned.
there IS also mental health and addiction (not just an excuse, but obviously a contributing factor). would rather nip that one in the bud before it turns to more and more/more damaging crimes.
but on the flip side of that i do know people who well and truly do not give a shit. like they don't have the mechanism in their brains to see cause and effect, or even feel guilt/ashamed. "steal some sweets and you'll be brutally tortured" they still just would. weird.
bought the ibanez for 700, corrr ive done it, I've actually spent money. It feels right.
>>82086075Yep, people make the issue of crime and policing far more difficult than it needs to be. It's simple. We 'solved' it to all intents and purposes, we just have governments that choose to allow crime at the levels we experience it.
Mental health is certainly an issue, but not something insurmountable. If you can be helped you should be helped, but if you're just fucked up in the head and go around committing crimes then sorry but it's just the best thing to do to lock you up so you can't terrorise the rest of the population. Addiction I would argue is even less of an issue. You simply ACTUALLY fight drugs. Singapore, Japan, SA etc. don't have drug problems because, get this, they execute people they find with drugs and lock up users for like 20 fucking years. The idea that Britain or really any western nation has engaged in a 'war on drugs' is a giant joke. We haven't even tried to fight drugs.
As for the people who you describe whose brains are just retarded and they can't comprehend cause/effect or guilt/shame, you're 100% right these are real people, just look at the mugshots of crime articles coming out of South Chicago and you can see there's literally nothing behind their eyes. The only way to deal with these people is lock them up or execute them. To allow them to simply roam the streets is domestic terrorism perpetrated against the citizens of the country.
Sorry if I'm rambling, I actually feel quite passionate about this stuff. It's so simple and yet it doesn't get implemented because shit like muh h00man roights!
>>82086115were you the same lad going on about spending 400 quid the other day? did you go all the way up to 700??
>>82086056It's not very simple to stop though is it? Maybe it can be reduced, but crime still exists in Singapore.
>>82086128Yes and I have never claimed that those places are zero-crime countries, they're not. What they are is LOW-crime countries, very low-crime. Crime will always exist to some degree, the only question is do we allow it to run rampant or do we stamp it out to the very edges of society and the very tips of the probability bell curves.
>>82086141Could somewhere like Singapore be low crime for any other reasons?
>>82086122generally agree although i suspect i'm not as "grr get 'em all!" as you.
but mostly i don't think drugs themselves should be punishable - would rather have legal routes to them and treat underlying issues. yeah the "war on drugs" proper is fucking stupid but actual drug possession/usage i have less of a problem with (the illegal industry behind them, sure, some sick stuff there).
as for if someone is just pathologically a psychopath or they're even reached their wits' end, learned they can get away with whatever, i always wonder if there's a way you can weaponise that. like autists. get autists into programming. get psychopaths into surgery. appeal to them on some level where it benefits them, and others, before it gets to wrongdoing. and then yeah just deal with wrongdoing when it actually occurs.
fuck knows how all this works in practice. the resources are pretty zero sum and i'd rather they be directed as usefully as possible. i'd see the police as something of a last resort, but even when they show up for a 100% clear-cut crime, they're pretty shite at dealing with it.
>>82086163Yes, as I mentioned above when talking about homogeneity; demographics are obviously a causative factor in crime. Different groups commit crimes at different rates, in some cases shockingly so. This is again a choice in terms of immigration policy and enforcement policy. Two tier justice and mass immigration of disproportionately criminally inclined ethnic groups in the UK is an example of doing this wrong.
>>82086164>as for if someone is just pathologically a psychopath or they're even reached their wits' end, learned they can get away with whatever, i always wonder if there's a way you can weaponise that. like autists. get autists into programming. get psychopaths into surgery. appeal to them on some level where it benefits them, and others, before it gets to wrongdoing. and then yeah just deal with wrongdoing when it actually occurs.Interestingly psychopaths are very disproportionately represented in high earning and highly skilled professions like surgeons and lawyers. Makes sense really, you have to be very focused, intelligent and in many cases ruthless to succeed in those environments. As long as they're not committing crimes this is generally beneficial because you want high achievers in those jobs and they're being self-selected for. Only when you get low IQ low impulse control psychos like Sean and your average 'roadman' do you get problems.

>>82086575I wouldn't be surprised if most male gays just can't put up with women (because who can?).
I fully understand the mentality of dedicating your life to being with men, purely because women tend to be the perfect storm of boring and insufferable. They insist on having no hobbies, and having the worst opinions on everything, and sometimes they just fuck things up for no reason at all. I don't think they even know why.
the two teenage lesbians i knew who were 'proper' lesbians both ended up becoming men (and/or were secretly boys all along, however it works).
obviously there are just lesbians where it's not a phase, but where are they? you DO see heterosexuals and even gay men, sometimes. so don't tell me i wouldn't notice. i would.
Sexualities involve sex, so considering women can't have sex with each other, it's logical to say that lesbianism isn't real

still find 'queer' annoying. it's not offensive and i get 'it has been RECLAIMED!!!' but in my mind it's this irritating Americanism.
'queer' as in strange? bit old-fashioned, fine.
gay people being gay? don't care.
anti-gay religious people? you're not going to change their mind.
'the queer community enjoying queer media under the queer umbrella' that's just some forced meme American trendy/academic shite at best. do yous just mean gay, as in homosexuals?
Another day of abuse at my job. I'd love to just take any bin but I've been spotted too many times now not checking them, so I have to be a good worker for a bit and make sure no contaminations go on. So sticker a recycling bin for having all sorts in it, food, metal, rubble. Just not even trying.
Guy runs out his house and starts mocking my appearance, telling me my job is to take the bins, he pays my wages, that I'm a jobsworth (like I wouldn't love to just avoid the hassle and throw all the bins on)
He mocked my hairline and that got to me because I was almost completely bald by 22 and have no idea why. So it's something I've always been bothered about. But at some point I lost it and started calling him a prick and a cunt, telling him he was all talk. He tried to block the road with his bins so I kicked them out the way. Now they're saying if he reports it I could lose my job. So stupid, they tell you to do all this stuff and then when you stick up for yourself, they turn against you.
Look at other jobs in my area and it's delivery driver, part time, part time, delivery driver etc. Not really sure what I'd do if I lost it.
>>82086837The popularisation of "queer" in recent years is definitely people trying to widen the gay umbrella so they can identify as being kind of gay, while not actually being gay.

That wasn't even the first time things have kicked off at work this week. Yesterday I knocked over someone's recycling bin by accident. As I bent down trying to pick up empty yoghurt pots and baked bean tins, I heard laughter behind me. I turned around and it was just a couple of kids filming me on their phones, giggling away, chanting "Baldrew! Baldrew!" I have no idea how they even knew my name is Andrew, but the nickname stung more than it probably should have.
Then, as if things weren't humiliating enough, a woman stormed out from the house next door, red-faced, jabbing her finger at me. "If you can't even handle bins, what good are you? You're not a man!" she shouted. The kids howled at this, loving every second, still filming, still taunting my hairline and repeating "Baldrew" over and over.
I tried to say something back but nothing came out, just a weird choking noise. I ended up just leaving the last few cans scattered on the pavement and walking quickly back to the lorry, pretending I wasn't close to tears.

Study the following extract from a textbook published in 2102:
"By the late 21st century, Britain had evolved into a post-majoritarian society where no single ethnic or religious group held numerical dominance. The rise of British Muslim communities reshaped national identity, politics, and diplomacy, whilst debates over cultural integration and freedom of expression defined the social landscape. Despite periods of tension, Britain emerged as a global leader in multicultural governance and ecological urbanism."

>>82087450>hard right turn with reformSo Labour is putting the infrastructure in place for loads of censorship, and Reform will agree with the censorship but simply specify there needs to be a minimum number of patriotic black men waving unions jacks on display at all times, and none of the laws around what you're allowed to look at on the internet, or any of the laws that throw you in prison for speech, ever actually get repealed. Maybe transpeople are forced back into the closet for a few years, so you can feel like you achieved some kind of cultural victory, while you no longer feel safe walking outside, because there are gangs of muggers just loitering on every street corner at this point.
Mark, the earliest gospel, contains no post-resurrection appearances. Then Matthew, the next gospel chronologically, does include some. Then followed up by Luke which contains even more. Then only in John, the latest written gospel, we get the story of doubting Thomas in which famously Thomas doesn't believe that it's the risen Christ and Jesus tells him to touch his wounds, to which Thomas does and says 'my Lord and my God' and then Jesus says 'you believe because you have seen, blessed are those who believe without seeing'.
It's very obvious that we have mythological development going on in the early Christian sects/churches. First account, closest to the source we have no post-resurrection appearances and then as time goes on and we get further and further away from the source, the stories become more fantastical and ending in a moral lesson that it's virtuous to believe without evidence.

dislike the overall switch from a variety of real/bottled ales to trendy craft beers, but Punk IPA is everywhere and tastes nice. owners are pricks, it's a bad employer, the marketing is gimmicky/hypocritical, etc etc. yeah fine.
but their REAL sin? switching everything to cans. whether you drink from the container or pour it into a glass, Punk IPA was just one of them drinks where it was better to get 12x little bottles (or those big 660ml bottles). cans DO affect the taste of drinks, no matter what anyone says.
>>82088055I'm a strong drinker. Like my drink. Love being drunk. Can handle my drink - but weekdays I don't feel like touching it all. Can't you just not?

>>82088075I like Punk IPA. Not a IPA guy at all really. Guinness thru n thru. Don't' think I've had a nicer IPA than Punk. I think I had a Beavertown when it first entered the market years ago.
So you can't get Punk IPA in bottles at all now?
>>82088068>Alright skitzo lad? Don't you like the texture?nah, crossy knows the score. maybe it's not 'science' but when you touch something wrong your hands are contaminated until you wash them.
of course i did wash my hands before handling the buns, but might as well use the plastic to avoid touching them directly. little life hack from me to you.

>>82088102That's right bht whether you wash your hands later doesnt fix what you've spread the contamination to in the meanwhile I think particularly in a work place a computer keyboard where there's so much space for germs to lodge into nd hide away even kf u wipe it down later
>>82088099just checked a few supermarkets and it looks like only Morrisons and Sainsbury's sell THESE bottles. and frankly 660ml is just over a pint anyway (568ml) so i don't care if it's like, two bottles in one, dood.
what is now 12x cans 'fridge packs' used to just be bottles. it's already a premium upmarket upsold gimmick, so have them in bottles. a lot of Beavertown and them other ones do cans too.
i don't even drink any more but i'm sick of it. just glad supermarkets still have those shelves of 500ml bottles from various different breweries. can even bag yourself some bottle-conditioned ones. Proper Job was still lush last time i checked.
>>82088111Yeah that's why there are sinks in the bathroom. There are sinks in the bathroom to wash your hands in, after you have done a peepee and/or a poopoo. You wash your hands in the sink in the bathroom, after you have done a peepee and/or a poopoo so you do not have toilet germs in your mouth, keyboard, glasses and everything/everywhere in between.

>>82089505100,000 gold pieces you may find. Loosing support from the state is quite the bind.

>>82089610I get my UC and PIP like 3 days apart this month. Oh aye. Still got 200 squid in the bank as well. Not too bad x
Got 200 squid in the bank. Oh aye.
Not rich but better than being skint af Makaveli style. Get me UC bennies on Friday then me PIP on Monday x
Hands: fake tanned
Ears: hooped
Oh yesh x
remember one night i was at a gig with literally 0.00 available. helped out setting it up for free tickets, plus a pal bought me a drink. then just tap waters.
was a Thursday night and my UC was due on the Bank Holiday Monday so i thought "wouldn't it be amazing if that meant they paid it early, and it came through at midnight? since they would probably pay it early on the Friday, rather than a day late, on the Tuesday?"
then exactly that happened. not saying i manifested it, mind. what i did do was buy two nice alcohol-free beers at the taxpayer's expense.
>>82089681Oh nice free booze tastes good.Enjoyx
Ought to process + assess the appointmentshire's aftermath further now
Quite fruitful was it not
>>82089429Unironically, a lot of stuff out there is probably just fronts these days.
Probably always was, only it's really obvious now that no one is going in shops, and some of them just continue to exist.
>typewriter shop near me has been standing there for decades, with the same lettering from the 80's on the front, and it never goes under for some reason
Been bullied and pushed to suciide all me life x
I deserve these bennies x
>that slow realisation that almost everyone who is successful is just a criminal, and has been the whole time
Makes you feel like a real dope, doesn't it?
Now I'm being fucking nice nd doing voluntary work for no financial gain and I still get disrespect. You can't please some people no matter what. Simple as x
erm, actually, think you have to commit suicide to have been pushed to it
>>82089429Thought this about office buildings growing up jst boggles a bit to think What Is even happening in there every day what are ppl doing exactly all those hours every single day It would lowkey make sense if they were just like graphics that render on life's start menu in the morning
Got 700 squid in the bank but 2 grand owed on the credit card
>>82089798Jst some seething wagie doesnt matter what you do theyd find a problem with it
>>82089810SSMaxxing I see.
>>82089769there was a fine art shop here that had "CLOSING DOWN" signs for something like 10 years. so old the red print had faded.
bit of a local joke and then it did actually close down during Covid or something.
made me wonder how many of these little art shops are just fronts. nobody ever goes in them. what's the rate of selling paintings to covering wages/rates?
me? on that stoozing grind. making free money off of the bank's money. oh aye.

>>82089837I think they're jealous I'm doing something new and somethign I enjoy. This is not the DWP sanctions me into suicide timeline and I become homless timeline they fantasized about. This is the timeline where I keep my bennies and do voluntary work and learn critical skills. They only want to see my suffer. Ironically, they more they wish that the more I will succeed. Oh aye x

Ne1 else find kinda mental how FOPP still exists on high street....................Its got a pure vibe of something that would have been closed down by now
>>82090036who's crosslad?
I used to find CEX quite cozy too back in the day but its jst like any other shop now
>>82090088have they not done some HMV thing and pivoted to Funko type tat?
wish the response to everyone buying online was lower rates to have physical shops. instead they just sit empty, and existing ones shut down (even the big chains).
what's the end game, here? ground-floor flats?

>>82089878>Google street view one of my local highstreets>two tattoo places>several phone repair shops>some kind of internal decor shop that just has samples of linoleum out front, and seemingly no one manning anything>bunch of really dodgy looking corner shops with the windows all coated in ads so you can't see inside>old run down looking building with signage for a catering company. Looks like no one has been in there in yearsMmmm
>>82090274>>82090289wise lad.
