I'd say Dragon Ball is definitely worth watching it's got fun adventure, comedy, cool worldbuilding and interesting fights.
Z onward there is some great moments but the majority of it is a slog and a big step down, it becomes very repetitive and here is where the stereotypical meme of Dragon Ball as two dudes screaming at each other for ten episodes charging their beams comes into play.
It's worth a shot especially if you like a long series to sink your teeth into, but if you're not into it you can try reading the manga instead which will be much more breezy and consistent.
There's also Dragon Ball Kai which is a condensed version of Z but is inferior in some ways such as janky re-drawn animation in places, a mostly inferior Japanese dub, inconsistent soundtrack, and the final saga is only available in cropped widescreen. However if for whatever reason you absolutely must watch in English Kai is the only way to go because it has a much improved dub script and some of the acting is a bit more tolerable.
And if you wanted more Super if the chronological sequel but came out years later, the immediate sequel was Dragon Ball GT which is a dubiously canon alternative universe thing that can be watched whenever.
Watch the sub obviously and ignore Anglo nostalgiatards trying to sell you on Funimation garbage. Make sure you get a download with the 'broadcast audio' and I'd recommend the 'Dragon Boxes' versions, you can find plenty torrents on nyaa.
