There aren't many where I live and they always seem to be close knit and some are rich so I feel shy. I think of how should I approach them. I often think about wanting to learn more about Judaism so I can get closer to them

if you want to be very technical I grew up in an orthodox household, but even within the orthodox jewish community there are different levels of adherence to the faith, orthodox doesn't automatically mean big silly suits and hats and curls
my family was fairly conservative (although if you go by the standards of general orthodox jews maybe not really), I personally just don't particularly care for religion and while during my childhood they did try to instill religious values into me, as I grew up they gave me the freedom to do what I want and went with a 'whatever makes you happy' approach
