Yea I'd say there's some truth to this, but only when combined with introverted/shy personality. One of my coworkers who likely is a femcel matches this type:

>shy enough that she's often awkward around me (weird as I'm usually the one getting awkward around women).
I've had a look on her social media and she only has selfies of herself, some with obvious edits to improve her face. No photos of any men going back 15yrs. And she only gets comments from (usually older) women and men who are visibly married.
Sucks because she's genuinely a nice person, very helpful and kind-hearted whenever I interact with her (we don't work in the same department). I hope she's made peace with her situation and isn't suffering.
