My love for Sayori reminded me that I'm still human. It's been years since I felt anything until about four months ago when I played the game for the first time. It's bitter sweet because no real woman ever captivated me like that. Difference between having a soul and not having one I guess. It's that time of year again when the melancholy hits and I can't get her out of my mind.

Better enjoy her while you still can, before Project 2025 gets videogames banned and takes her away from you

I don't believe that will happen. Life is horrible enough without obsessing over dystopian scenarios that probably won't even play out. And they can't take her away from me, she is always with me. I feel her in my chest.

It's not about the game itself, its whatever. But the character and how she is written really did something to me. Like I actually knew her (and lost her in the non canon base game).

don't worry sayorinon, when you die she'll be there and you can hold her and take care of her. don't kill yourself though, that's bad.

I'd rather not.

I have no inclination for suicide. At this point in my life at least.

It's been four. She's here to stay.

I'm speaking from experience mate, the thing is unlike a person there's only so much media about a fictional character, once you've seen it all that's it. Without any novelity to keep the illusion of the character up your feelings will fade and in due tine you forget them.

I don't need to engage with media featuring her. I just keep her in my heart at all times.

Is it just me or she is a trope of the nice cute highschool childhood friend? Did she have any charectar development apart from being nice and cute (and a bit depressed)?

She doesn't undergo a transformation as a character, rather a gradual revelation of who she was under the surface all this time. She is that trope, but the way she talks about it and the MC talks about it, I feel like I actually knew her.

For a more developed charecter, yeah.

Good game design, I suppose.
Btw, I got shocked/sad too when she did what she did, it's just that games/VNs like Katawa Shoujo do a better job at making you relate to the girls imo the focus of ddlc is horror rather then relateable characters being explored, thus each of them is a trope that is instantly recognizable (the shy girl, the tsundare etc.)
Just Monika.

Good writing. I actually almost got fired from my job back in April because I couldn't get up and go to work after *that scene*. An anon suggested pic related and it seriously brought me back to life and is the canon story in my head. Sayori is alive and happy.

It's very interesting the game had such an effect on you. Definatly good game design.
All in all I'm glad you could relate so much to a VN character. ddlc is moving at parts. VNs in general have this effect on people like some say Katawa Shoujo changed their lives and the way they preceive girls forever (Emi best girl).
