Women aren't really selecting for evil as much as they are dominance. There is a correlation between evil and dominance that is strong enough to permit the evolution of a preference for evil men over kind men. There is also a similar correlation going on with kind men and weakness. The correlations need not be 1:1 to allow for undue prejudice to evolve in females. All of this begs the question:
Why is dominance so important a trait to women?
Because dominant men can defend families, secure resources, and conquer their respective environments, allowing women who prefer them to pass on their genes. Dominant men aren't always evil, however, a guy being evil usually just means women have to put up with some abuse here or there which is ultimately a worthwhile tradeoff in the wild where this preference for dominance (and by correlation, evil) evolved. However, female selection is not perfect, and some women have ended up with genes that select so much for evil that they want to fuck serial killers who perhaps have the capacity to kill not just others but also the women themselves. From this, we can predict a natural regression to the mean where most women evolve to select for somewhat evil men, le "bad boys", but not serial killers.
