Is 4chan a waste of time?
I don't really get a lot out of this site, yet I keep coming back. I suppose having no one to talk to IRL and the anonymity helps. I feel like I could be spending my time on better things, yet I don't. I keep using this site but I don't really enjoy it. It's like I'm stuck here forever.

Try your best to find a nerdy club as a substitute, one that doesn't allow girls

Because you are a normie and probably a zoomer that's why. I have gotten plenty out of this site over the years/

>Tutorials
>alternative programs
>Websites that have helped me with job acquisition
>japanese language guides
>torrents
>Raw manga sites
>manga recommendations
>game recommendations
>artbooks

This site was initially for artists/animators and programmers, you aren't going to get much out of it if you aren't in those groups.

You are using wrong then my guy.......Browse /ic/ and /3/ from time to time to gather some tuts, I wouldn't ask for crits because many shitty people are lurking in the shadows. I really just post on R9K to state opinions I can't say in polite company. I found polycount a decade and half ago bc of this site, and met some great friends.

The problem I have with /ic/ and really any other hobby board on this site is still what I said in the OP
>I don't really get a lot out of this site

I'm not denying there is useful info on this site if you're using it right. But even when doing that the time spent and the knowledge gained doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment. Anything on this site that's useful you can learn somewhere else. The streamlining of it on the site might make it easier to go through to a certain extent, but this also seems like a cost. It depends on the board, but once you actually learn enough about a certain subject you realize how superficial the depth of it is on 4chan, yet for whatever reason I keep coming back while knowing this. If this is a form of laziness where I outsource my thinking, I don't know, but I can't stop.

It's led to other sites, or I got lucky and a really nice anon gave me a really useful link.

>looking for japanese study guides on /jp/
>a really kind anon dropped a link to bilingual manga and I was able to pick a ton of kanji from just reading manga.

>post model on /3/
>anons rip on me for being shitty
>link me to polycount
>meet a ton of great people on that site
>some become irl friends after moving to LA

The dopamine rush from a lot of (You)s is the thing keeping me coming back. I haven't been getting many lately though, so I'm thinking of devoting my anon time to just watching more tv shows.

You need to do whatever you can to improve your self-control if you can. Use hard drugs if you must.

>Nerdy club
There are no nerdy clubs. Nerds are too anxious and introverted to get out.

I'm a /v/ermin and a /pol/ak and just wanted to say good for you man. Love to see it.

also engaging nose graphic, I was surprised at how long I looked at it even though I have no interest in fine art

It's like an endless uncurated twitter timeline. It had a charm when there was moderation and spam was easily culled, now it forces you to try and find gold in oceans of shit so yes, it's 100% a waste

I tell you man, this site can be a beautiful thing dependent on how you use it. There is so much to be learned and gained if you go to the right places. Even sites thought to be catered towards simping and stupidity can have a plethora of knowledge of them

My twitter and instagram feed is honestly just silly animations, indie game projects, japanese language guides, tutorials and art folks have made

It is, but I've found the outside world to be worse in a lot of ways. I've pretty much accepted that there's nothing good out there for me. At least here I don't feel like I'm alone all the time.

Yes, but it's excellent time-wasting fodder for a NEET.

The only sites I use are 4chan and Twitter. I have used both for basically like two decades.

During those two decades I have always been and remain a staunchly progressive liberal/semi-SJW so it's interesting to actually now feel like a contrarian outsider at all times in my "homesites" given their present ideological (and cognitive) demographics.

I get no value out of it. I won't stop, though. I will never stop. You're here forever.
