work lowballed me on pay for a "promotion", and it's apparent I'll now need to leave the company for competitive pay. Feeling pretty bummed about it because I really liked the office, but it's now obvious they don't value me.

Why dont you have a union there? And if they know this is your plan why are they acting as if they didnt expect it? It sounds like they are being rude
