I was raised by a single mom who didn't work so i think they failed me

If you are dependant on your parents and worrying if they failed you in your adulthood then they failed you.

If you have to ask then your parents probably failed you miserably and its up to you to pick up the shattered remains and try to build a castle on sand. It can be done, just dont invite earthquakes
