I dunno, I have a good job and I could provide for a girl so she doesn't have to work and can just stay home, raise a kid or two. Can't get a gf though. They care about status, not wealth. A non-prestigious job that pays well won't attract them. A prestigious job will attract them even if it doesn't pay well. A certain level of wealth carries prestige in and of itself, but that level is far beyond what you'd get by working.
