zoomers dont know that throughout most of history if you failed to return a greeting by a stranger that was grounds to murder you on the spot, up until only 100 years ago and to an extent 25 years ago (they'd kick your ass), but today it's the norm, i hate when i go in a place with a service worker and i say "hello" and they either say nothing or worse something sarcastic like "yeaaaahhhh". so im not saying you just greet everyone you pass by, im saying whenever the current context makes it proper to greet them, if they dont return the greeting it would have been considered "dishonoring you" not even that long ago. so not like some sperg who waves and says hello at everyone for no reason.

Not true, but it's just because communities were smaller. Now people got all sensitive with le boundaries which was a mistake, they're now more lonely as a result.
