How would anyone go about speaking to other people, even in dedicated nerd spaces like conventions? I'm not saying people into anime are normalfags, but the social strata of 'weird outcast' and 'outgoing and socially competent' still exist. So attempting to hit on a cosplayer (or just say hello and say her outfit is cool) is like trying to hit on some broad at the bar; she's still in a different caste than you. It just feels like there's an unbridgeable gap.

nice, this one was in edmonton. a lot of them were fat as hell but that's a given, i'd say 40% were decently good looking. a lot were cosplaying as literally who woman only media characters though, so a lot of i assume gacha characters or shoujo shit i believe. though i did see a lot of asukas, misa amane, frieren, miku, shit like that.
didn't go as anything but i might another time, the problem is men seem to look cringe and autistic at a way higher rate than woman when they cosplay at these things so i'd like to do it right.
