Well, kids don't like outcast that's different from them, maybe once they grew up they regretted bullying you. I have never been bullied because i was good looking and i always tried to not be too isolated from the group even if I'm poor and not that interesting to talk to, and i joined them in bullying the outcast kids. As a kid i don't think much and just do it for survival, it's them or me one day but when i grew up i feel bad about it. So you can let bygone be bygone. Idk if public school would be better for ypu either since since bullying would be worse.

my childhood was similar, listened to metal and got beat with sticks, pokemon cards got burnt, no internet access, not allowed to leave the house, only thing I could do was read the Bible and play a DS I bought off a kid at school.
